Intro to Nerdstrong

WHAT IS IT?
Our free Intro class gives our team an opportunity to learn a bit about you, your goals, and your current fitness level, while you learn a bit about us. We'll teach you some basic Nerdstrong movements, and then you'll go through a brief, but intense, baseline workout.

WHO SHOULD TAKE THIS CLASS?
This free class is recommended, but not required, for anyone thinking of joining the Nerdstrong family. If you take the Intro, you'll get a voucher for one free class, applicable to any of the classes below. It's also a good way to get some quality time with one of our coaches before you dive in.

Boss Fight

WHAT IS IT?
In the first week of this cyclical class, we attack a grueling workout, a Boss Fight, something that really pushes the limits of each Nerdstronger. For the next three weeks, we fight mini-bosses, designed to help improve our performance against the Big Boss. Then, the fifth week, we fight the initial Boss again, armed with more skills and knowledge. Every cycle is different, but a typical Boss Fight focuses on cardio and muscular endurance: lots of difficult work over a long workout. You can jump into a cycle at any time.

CLASS STRUCTURE

build

When you first begin a character setup, you must build that character from the ground up. Our warm-ups can be anything from basic mobility and range of motion drills, to cardio, to isometric stretching routines.

proficiency

The skill section is where we learn and perfect the basic building blocks of our fitness through form and repetition. We practice our basic skills, Olympic-style lifting, improve our cardio performance. The tools we learn in the skills workout are applied to our workouts.

battle!

2017-04-22 11.06.52.jpg

This is always something different. The workouts can be a number of movements done for time or rounds of movements done within a particular time or a couplet of movements on the minute for a number of minutes.

Sometimes our weekday and most of our weekend workouts are geek-themed - in the past year we've kicked-down dungeon doors together, defeated the Death Star, raided ancient temples with Indiana Jones, battled Beholders, fought Gregor Clegane (the Mountain that Rides), completed our Viper Pilot training, joined the Avengers, fought zombies, battled Coily alongside QBert, fought as Viking warriors, and time traveled with a certain Doctor. While Nerdstrong carries an element of geekiness in every aspect of the gym, these special geek-themed workouts are really the Nerdstrong Staff's masterpieces.
