nerdstrong training

WHAT IS IT?
Nerdstrong Training is our general fitness class, a combination of cardio, lifting, high-intensity interval training, gymnastics, and bodyweight exercises or whatever the insane minds of our Gym Masters think up. Every workout has progressions for all levels of fitness experience. That means you have no excuse not to join us for a class!!! Yes, I'm yelling!

WHO SHOULD TAKE THIS CLASS?
All are welcome to this class. Dwarves, elves, orcs, humans, even those cat people you've seen out and about. I think they're cat people. Anyway, they're welcome!!

When Nerdstrong Gym first started, Andrew would create workouts with a nerdy bent and a bit of gamified fun. Every Sunday, we continue that tradition with fun, collaborative, geek-themed workouts.

All are welcome! We keep saying that, but it's true. You're welcome to come. That's right, you! Sitting there, reading this on your phone. I see you. Get here!

Boss Fight

WHEN IS IT?
Saturdays

WHAT IS IT?
Oh, man, is this one a doozy! The Boss Fight is something that really pushes the limits of each of our heroes. Every Boss is different. Big bosses. Little bosses. Bosses with swords. Bosses with running away. Bosses that create giant sweaty pools in our gym. Those are the best ones. 

WHO SHOULD TAKE THIS CLASS?
Like everyone. Every single human on the planet should take this class. We have progressions for all movements so you can take on these crazy workouts with us.

Power-Up

WHAT IS IT?
Do you like to squeeze your workout into a compact pocket-sized ball of nuclear fission? You do?! So do we!! Power-Up packs all the power of Nerdstrong into an intense 30-minute workout.

Core & Mobility

WHAT IS IT?
Core & Mobility combines yoga, Pilates mat work, and other core strengthening and mobility techniques into a unique therapeutic and strength-building class. We'll make you bendy in all the right bend spots!

Olympic Lifting

WHAT IS IT?
Olympic Lifting is all about on drilling the skills needed to perform Snatch and Clean & Jerk. Discipline is required because these lifts are technical. We drill, drill, drill into your deepest core until we find perfect form and execution then KABOOM! Your barbell explodes in your hands, creating sparks of awesome, raining down upon the other class members. I've seen it happen.

Blacksmith (advanced level)

WHAT IS IT?
Blacksmith is about everything metal at the gym: barbells, kettle bells, dumbbells, steel clubs, and maces. MACES! Be prepared to go to battle with a weapon in each hand. Smash your enemy until they are a gooey pulp!

18/00: Exceptional Strength

WHAT IS IT?
18/00 focuses on building the exceptional Strength and Power usually only available to 1e and 2e Fighters. You should expect a lot of heavy lifting, jumping, sprinting, and bodyweight power movements.

OPEN GYM

WHAT IS IT?
Even tho it says "Open Gym", we want you to have a specific thing you wanted to work on. It's not hang out time, it's work time! A coach will be on staff, but they're there to make sure you don't burn the place down with your exploding muscle parts. Honestly, this has happened once or twice.

PRIVATE TRAINING

Private Training is an amazingly effective and efficient way to achieve your individual fitness goals. We will work with you to identify and clarify your fitness goals, assess your movement, and design a program specifically targeted at improving your deficiencies and optimizing your strengths, thereby enabling you to achieve your goals as quickly as possible.


CLASS STRUCTURE

build

When you first begin a character setup, you must build that character from the ground up. Our warm-ups can be anything from basic mobility and range of motion drills, to cardio, to isometric stretching routines. 

mastery

The skill section is where we perfect the basic building blocks of our fitness through form and repetition, creating muscle memory and finesse. Who doesn't like to be all finesse-y about things?

BATTLE

Our favorite part! This is always something different. Could be lifting, strength training, kettlebell stuff, dumbbell things or cardio! Everyone loves cardio! Let's cardio up in here. Anyhoo, it's a combination of awesome. 


Sometimes our weekday and most of our weekend workouts are geek-themed - in the past year we've kicked-down dungeon doors together, defeated the Death Star, raided ancient temples with Indiana Jones, battled Beholders, fought Gregor Clegane (the Mountain that Rides), completed our Viper Pilot training, joined the Avengers, fought zombies, battled Coily alongside QBert, fought as Viking warriors, and time traveled with a certain Doctor. While Nerdstrong carries an element of geekiness in every aspect of the gym, these special geek-themed workouts are really the Nerdstrong Staff's masterpieces.
